Hi all. I'll post this just in case you haven't noticed this.
Ricky wrote in his This Side of the Truth blog that Karl Pilkington has agreed to doing one special podcast sometime in the future.
So, because of this project (probably in spite of it), there will be more Karl. That's good news!
Have you remembered to visit The Pilkington Files comic strip?

The last post to this blog.
By now, all of you must have heard the news. Karl will not be doing any more podcasts. It is a sad day. You can read the announcement from Ricky's blog.
Updating this blog has been fun. And to be honest, I did not think it was going to last for a long time, but it was great while it lasted. However, this blog will remain online. So you can come back and remember the time when people from all over the world joined in on a fun project, all because of their shared love to Karl Pilkington, everybody's favorite Mancunian!
Reunions and comebacks happen all the time so even though Karl has said no to more podcasts, let's not give up hope. I hope we are not looking at an "ABBA situation". And if you feel really bad, it is good to remember this: It was only a podcast! (but a really good one).
I remember that in one podcast there was talk about different dimensions. There must be a dimension where Karl's decision not to do more podcasts actually is the end of the world. We should be grateful for not living in that dimension. :)
Thanks to everybody who has been reading, sending email and especially the people who took time to take put up the posters and sent the pictures to be published on the blog. And of course thanks to Ricky for coming up with the idea in the first place. We're all sorry it didn't work out. And best of luck to Ricky with the new movie, I am looking forward to seeing it. And probably before that, seeing the standup tour in New York this summer.
And all the best to Karl Pilkington. I will buy the new book once it is out. Hopefully that will help you pay your bills ;)
That's all from me. Take care and I hope everyone has a great summer!
The Karl Pilkington Poster Project in numbers:
#186 posters all over the world in 5 continents. (Europe, Asia, North America, South America and Australia)
28,876 visits.
15,269 unique visitors.

Feel free to share your thoughts and feelings in the comments.
Update: I would still like to see how the Pilkington Files comic ends, and I think I'm not alone.

Corey writes: " It would do Mr. Dilkington well to visit this place. Not only is it a lovely little resort town with some great beaches (where I'm sure he would have fun sitting in the sand, bothering the crabs), but there's also a lot of weird stuff an' that. Case in point-- walking home from the boardwalk after putting up the poster, I saw a guy gardening with a chainsaw.

Poster #174: Honolulu, HI, USA

Devin from Honolulu writes:
"It's official. The phenomenon has come full circle - through the
pacific ocean. This might probably be as far away from England as it
gets. Nowhere more remote, thats for sure. However, we must not forget
what this innocuous poster represents...
-- no matter where you go in the world, across oceans and through
cultures, there are people who, not only share Karl's values and
ideals, but care enough to go out and proudly spread the message just
for one last 30 minutes of escaping our hectic everyday lives, and
reveling in the charming simplicity that is Karl's mind.
It is a beautiful irony that Karl's outlook on life may not be as crazy
as it seems when compared to some of the insanity that is ever present
in all of our lives around the world; and that's why we all love
listening to him.
This is my tribute to the most unprecedented, widespread, cultural icon
of this generation whose fame is global and is based solely the shape
of his head."
Well said. If I were Karl, I'd cry after reading that. This poster is very far from the other posters. Could it actually be the loneliest Karl in the world? That makes me a little sad too.

Poster #173: Lund, Sweden

Jesper writes: "At the mathematical centre in Sweden; University of Lund, Karl is the main subject. Classes are dismissed, lecturers and professors argue about the perfectly spherical thing that is Karl Pilkington's head, as it's the roundest thing they've ever seen. Even IKEA's founder Ingvar Kamprad have noticed it's freakishly shape, and has put Karl's picture outside his own design centre, saying to his employees: "When I say I want it round, I want it as round as this!"
Great to see the first poster from Lund. Having visited the city many times, I think that it is one of my favorite places in Sweden.

This Side of the Truth
I guess a lot of readers of this blog also read Ricky's This Side of the Truth blog. I like to read it too, it is updated almost daily and you get a nice inside look at how the movie is made. Nerf guns seem to be very important. l like them almost as much as I like waterguns.
This idea was already mentioned in some comments: Wouldn't it be great to see the Karl poster appear somewhere in the final cut of the movie? It would. And we all know who can make it happen.
What else would be cool to see in the DVD extras of This Side of the Truth? Post your ideas to the comments. I don't think Mr. Gervais has run or will ever run out of ideas, but the readers might come up with funny stuff.
Have a good weekend everyone.

The poster is in a city called Fredrikstad. Now that I come to think about this, there is a town called Karlstad in Sweden. Karl's city. Is he an honorary citizen? If not, he should be. And give him the keys to the city as well. Anyone from Karlstad reading this blog? Put a poster up.
Here's Karlstad in Google maps and the city's official site. On the site they claim that Karlstad is "the city of sunshine". Of course it is. A nice vacation spot if Suzanne just spots it and takes Karl there.

But we also thought that, in fairness, Ricky deserved a poster of his own. So we made one for him, celebrating his accomplishment of being (in the words of Stephen Merchant) "The most annoying person ever (in the history of all things)." The last part wouldn't fit on the poster."

Here's an idea that would be fun to see someone with a little extra time on their hands do.
Make a short version/trailer of the film Karl came up with. Yes, the one starring Rebecca De Mornay and Clive Warren/Owen. There's plenty of footage on YouTube with De Mornay and Owen that you could mash up to make the film. Here's the plot.
I'm sure we'll all be waiting to see this done.

Number #2 in Google
I just did Google search for "worlds roundest head".
See the result.
To get this page in first slot in Google search results, you could help by doing the following:
- suggest the site and the whole story to newspapers and magazines in your countries
- comment and link to this site in forums and blog comments
Let's see what happens. When searching for "worlds roundest head" the name Karl Pilkington should be the first search result.
In his blog, Ricky came up with thought of making a list of all the people Karl has insulted. Use the comments for the list. It's going to be a long one.

The Pilkington Files - A New Karl Comic!

Owen Dunne is a cartoonist, and he has decided to do his bit by starting up a new comic strip dedicated to Karl. It’s called “The Pilkington Files.” Owen says he'll be publishing a new strip Monday-Wednesday-Friday.
Go here to see the strip:
www.belchwerks.com
Let's hope he keeps coming up with great stuff like the first one!
Ricky has posted a new quiz to his blog. Ricky had been criticized by me and others for the easiness of the first quiz. Rightfully so, because it was ridiculously easy. Again, let's see answers in the comments.

Oh well. Had some spare time today to put up posters in Helsinki. Tested projecting the poster. Then made a big one myself and put it up on a tram stop. I lingered around the stop after putting up the poster to see peoples reactions. They were amazed by the roundness, of course.

The campaign is working.
From Ricky's blog:
Entry No. 23
"I cannot believe the effort you guys have put in. (Particularly the new video appeal by Ross and the big poster. More of those please.)
Well it's working.
Not only did Karl politely request I call the campaign off today, but he's thinking about doing a special one off show as part of a special event.
I can't tell you about that yet but I just wanted to say "We shall never surrender."
I say the same, until there is a confirmation of new podcasts, the campaign will go on. So keep those photos coming in and think big when you do them.
Maybe do something like I've mentioned before. Or even better, come up with something extraordinary nobody thought of before.

Poster #107: Somewhere in the US
Where is Karl in this picture? I don't see him.
Matt who took it writes: "At first I thought it was over kill, but, naw. I mean I can't tell where he is anymore in this shot. Can you? By the way. My name is Matt. I'm a chef, and I'm thinking that I'm going to make a dish after Karl. Something like "Orange Mank Chicken" or "Dilkington Salad". Who knows. Needs some work yet."
I'd order a dish called Orange Manc Chicken.
Brings an idea into mind: Anyone from Orange County or near there reading? Could the name of the county be officially change to Head Like a Fucking Orange County for a day? At least some pictures from OC would be great.
You could have a whole line of products too. For example "Head Like a Fucking Orange Juice." Who is the first to desing a package and a logo for that? I will post it to the blog if you do it. Make it look cool. And round.

These guys have really made an effort. It is poster #100 and its definitely the biggest one so far!
And it looks that even Forrest Gump made it to the unveiling.
Taylor, Mark and Brian created this together. They write: "We created this 4'x6' poster and hung it in our window facing a busy road. Karl's perfectly spherical head has a 22" diameter. We miss you karl...alright."

Make these happen, people!
Ideas
Here a few tasks that I would like to see someone do. Who will be the first one to complete one?
1) Visit a zoo, give the poster to a chimp. Take photos and video of its reaction.
2) Travel to China, give the poster and a Twix to an elderly chinaman and take a picture. Or just go to your local Chinatown (or a novelty street) and do the same.
3) Go to Lanzarote, visit the volcanoes and take a picture of yourself holding the poster on top of the volcano.
4) Take the poster underwater, preferably near a jellyfish. Take a picture.
5) Get a group of friends together. Form the text "KARL" of the group and take a photo from above. 20 people should do it, maybe even less. That would be cool. This one would be easy to do at schools or universities.
6) This is a long shot but why not say it out loud. Find Rebecca De Mornay, tell her about Karl's movie idea, maybe she would then agree to have her picture taken with the poster. I can't say where to find her, but I'd guess LA. Don't act like stalker though.. Haven't seen her in any movies in ages but I have to say, I like her kind of "evil beauty". And that's a compliment.
And just a little wish to all the people visiting: Please, do not send me mails or ideas that you would like to be forwarded to Ricky. Ricky just happened to notice the blog and linked to it in his own blog. In other words: we are not mailing and calling each other all the time. I think it is just Jonathan Ross he does that with. That's an unnatural friendship, by the way, isn't it?
But I think Ricky reads this blog quite often, so if you want to get your message through to him, why not post your links and messages to the comments of blog posts? They are open to everyone. Cheers!

Sal from LA sent this picture. Sal works at film production company there. Again if Clive Warrens people are visiting, they might see this. By the way, it looks that Clive Warren is the favorite to play Karl in a Pilkington biopic. Too bad he does not exist. Or maybe he does.
Someone with money and connections, make the movie Karl talked about. I'm sure Rebecca de Mornay can be talked into the project.

I immediately printed off Karl's face and fabricated a meeting so I could get out of the office and head over and take a picture/video. I only had my cell-phone so the video isn't very good but you can clearly see it says Pilkington in giant letters. I tried to get a photo of it from across the street because there's one section that has a perfectly round part on it and thought Karl's manc face would fit in perfectly and thus make a great company logo."

Do your bit!

Repost of the picture Ricky sent (poster #45). He has done his bit, so have many more. Your turn to do your bit!
1. No posters yet from China. Can anyone fix that? Preferably an elderly chinaman or a chinaman woman in the picture, holding the poster.
2. Picture of an old man eating a Twix and holding the poster. Surely you have grandfathers who wouldn't mind helping?
3. What a about an elderly chinaman, holding the poster and eating a Twix? Now that would be something.
4. No posters from Africa either. There have been visitors from Tanzania, South Africa and Egypt, maybe one of you could do you bit?
5. South America, no posters there either. The world is waiting.
6. Read more about Twix. It used to be called Raider in Finland. I liked it better when it was called Raider. If it were still called that, would it appeal better to the +60 yrs demographic?

Well, it is Saturday night in Savonlinna, Finland and it is time to go to sleep now. My little sister turned 18 yesterday. I wonder what Karl Pilkington would have said to her. I do not know. Comments are open to anyone.
