Poster #151: Rome, Italy

Federica and Adam from Rome write: "Here are a few pictures of the K-man poster plastered on top of some political posters in Rome. People had a hard time choosing the lesser evil in the election today (so they just went with the greater evil in the end), but we think that, given the evidence, we can all agree that Karl's head is perfectly round.

But we also thought that, in fairness, Ricky deserved a poster of his own. So we made one for him, celebrating his accomplishment of being (in the words of Stephen Merchant) "The most annoying person ever (in the history of all things)." The last part wouldn't fit on the poster."

Wonder what Ricky thinks of that poster? I like it.

The blog got Gervais'd.

Hi and good morning to all from sunny yet chilly Helsinki.

Good news. Seems that the news traveled fast to New England where Ricky is filming his new movie "This Side of The Truth". Ricky wrote about this blog on his own Karl-blog, read the entry.

Thanks Ricky! But I am a little worried about what will become of the movie if this website is the thing you are most interested in... On the other hand, what would be better than having a bunch of Hollywood A-list actors waiting on the set while Ricky is browsing through posters of Karl.

Or what about seeing a headline like this on the paper: "Gervais quits movie production to spend more time on the internet looking at posters of a round-headed Manc". Might happen.

A few other things:

1) Let's see more photos!

2) Location that needs immediate attention: Lanzarote. The airport, the volcanoes. Just to be safe

Keep up the good and very important work all over the world. I see this leading somewhere, now that Ricky knows about the blog, it is only a matter of time when Karl visits the site. Let us send a clear message out to him: You can run, but you can't hide.

What's the point of this blog?

What is the point of this blog? Well, I'll tell you. Like you (probably) I've been listening to the Xfm radio shows and the Ricky Gervais show with (Ricky, Stephen Merchant and the world famous chimp boy Karl Pilkington) podcasts and would like to hear more.

The only problem is that Karlie Pilkboys refuses to do more. Apparently he is annoyed about the claims that some people have made about the show being scripted and that he is really a man called Graham. After making money with the podcasts Karl has now moved on to the real estate business, buying property all over England.

To get Karl back on the podcast bandwagon, Ricky started a blog on his website to annoy Karl into doing more podcasts. Karl has proven to be more resilient than anyone believed. That's why I believe Rickys blog alone cannot turn Karls head. We need to crowdsource this endeavour.
Ricky came up with the idea of putting this poster of Karl everywhere in central London, Kent and Manchester (apparently his main hangouts these days) to show him that wherever he goes, he's not safe from round-head-posters.

I've been reading some comments on forums on the internet that people are sorry that they can't participate in the poster operation because they don't live in the UK. And that's where the idea for this blog came from. The podcasts have been listened by a lot of people around the world and we should do our part.

And we all know that Karl is an experienced traveller, so if life in the UK becomes too hard with all the posters hangin' about, he might flee to some foreign country (not Australia though). It will propably be Spain (like the chimp in Monkey News).

So the poster has to be spread all over the world. That way Karl won't be able to go anywhere without seeing it. Logic here is that he will then give in to our demands of new podcasts.

Here's what you should do:

1) Print this poster (or make a similar one yourself).

2) Put it in windows, bus stops, light posts, whatever you can think of.

3) Take a picture of the poster

4) Email the picture along with the location (street, city, country) to the address posteroperation@gmail.com and I'll publish it in the blog.

I will do my part in turning Helsinki, Finland into a CHIMPBOY POSTERLAND, thus making Helsinki a zone that Karl will be unable to visit without seeing his round head all over the city.

Do the same in your city! Be creative in the poster positioning and try not to break any laws.
